Glögg is a popular Scandinavian mulled wine made with red wine, port, spices, fruit and nuts. Make this comforting hot cocktail when the weather is cold to warm you up and lift your spirits.

1 bottle Red Wine  
12 oz / 300 ml 18 oz / 450 ml 24 oz / 600 ml 36 oz / 900 ml Ruby Port Fonseca Bin #27
6 oz / 150 ml 9 oz / 225 ml 12 oz / 300 ml 18 oz / 450 ml Cognac Maison Rouge V.S.O.P.
0.5 cups Demerara Sugar  
0.25 cups Raisins  
4 whole Green Cardamom Pods  
8 whole Cloves  
2 sticks Cinnamon  
4 strips Orange Peel  

Notes

  • Method: Simmered
  • Pour: Ladle
  • Glassware: Wine
  • Garnish: Raisins from the pot
  • Special Prep: Heat the alcohol in a non-reactive pot, but do not boil. Add sugar and spices in a pouch. Simmer for20 minutes. Take off the heat and add raisins. Let rest for one hour. Remove spice bag and serve hot.
