Ingredients

  • 1 onion

  • 3 stalks celery

  • 3 carrots

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 1 lb / 454 g split peas

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 1/2 t thyme

  • 1 meaty ham bone

  • 4 c / 908 g chicken stock

  • 3 c / 681 g water

  • 1 c diced ham

Method

  1. Cut vegetables into bitesize pieces
  2. Saute vegetables till soft
  3. Add peas, ham and liquid
  4. Simmer 1 hour
  5. Add the ham and heat through
